Who we are
Let us introduce ourselves
We are Manolis and Paraskevi.
In August 2007 we decided to leave Athens and settle in a village in Crete, called Aggeliana. Our way of life gradually changed when we came to possess our own kitchen garden and a field with olive grove.
Experimenting with the raw materials in hand we made our first soap.
Athos workshop
Excited by our small success and urged by friends and relatives, we decided to keep on trying and making progress. Thus, we have created a cottage industry of handmade natural personal care products in Aggeliana, Rethymnon named “Athos”.
Creation
In the oral Cretan dialect, “Athos” means blossom. For us, the blossom symbolizes the creation, the evolution, the completion.
The basic ingredient of our products is the organic Cretan extra virgin olive oil, which arises from our own olive trees. We also co-operate with local small producers which supply us with herbs, fruits, milk, honey and natural beeswax, necessary materials for our products production.
Inspiration
We gather and process our raw materials with natural and mild mechanical methods without disturbing the ecosystem. We are inspired by the Cretan landscape, where olive trees dominate along with herbs and fruit – bearing trees. Cretan products, such as honey, milk and olive oil above all, helped us carry out our original idea. Crete is a land with intense influences from many places of the world, which leads us to combined choices that contribute to health and offer pleasure.
Desire
All our products are made wholly in our workshop in Aggeliana, a village in Rethymnon Prefecture. Everything is prepared in small quantities to ensure the excellent quality of the final products.
Our desire is to care for people in absolute harmony with nature.
